Instructions
For this project, you have been assigned to groups of either three or four and given a specific aspect of the Lowell Mills to study in more depth. Each group will have a group “overseer” who will divide the “labor” between the students evenly. (The facilitator must also have an equal share of the labor, or your workers might go on strike.)
Follow the steps below:
1. The group facilitator will lead the group in dividing the labor (AKA the questions to answer) among the group members. At no time should your workers be idle. (Hint: its easier if you assign your answers in order…trust me.) Click on the Questions page on the bar for group questions.
2. Use the provided links on the page that says “Links for Lowell Project” found in the sidebar.
3. The project will be introduced on Monday, and students will have both Tuesday and Wednesday to complete the assignment. If the assignment is not completed by Thursday in class, then the group must decide how to complete it outside of class. It is STRONGLY suggested that students research at home in order to complete their assignment by Friday. Even if you cannot find the information, this will allow you to ask your teacher specific questions.
4. Next, you must assemble the information you collect into a useful poster. Students will use this poster to answer their own worksheets with the same questions on it. Once again, the purpose of this poster is so that another student can easily get information from it. If students do not understand it, then you will get a lowered grade because you did not fulfill the purpose of the assignment.
5. All group members are expected to participate in the creation of the poster. In order to speed this up, I suggest making mini-posters and assembling them into a larger poster later.
